Powersports Riding Gear
Going on off-roading adventures in your ATV or UTV is a blast. But no trip will be fun if it ends in injury. At Road Track & Trail, we want you to stay safe on all of your outdoor excursions. That’s why we’ve created the following list of riding gear you need to have in your closet!
Read on to learn more, and give us a call at our Big Bend, Wisconsin location if you have any questions. We also proudly serve Milwaukee, and Waukesha, Wisconsin as well as Chicago, Illinois!
Helmet
The most important piece of riding gear you need is a helmet. And don’t think that your bike helmet is going to cut it. You need a fitted and comfortable helmet that has a high crash-test rating and is designed for extreme sports riding. You can go with a motorcycle or motocross helmet.
Make sure you try on helmets in the store before you buy. It should be snug but not too tight. Your helmet should be worn every time you ride in order to protect your head and your brain!
Goggles
Now that your head is protected, it’s time to protect your eyes. Your helmet may come with a full plastic face shield, but if it doesn’t, you need some goggles. Goggles will shield your face from flying debris, sand, dirt, rain, and bugs, making them an essential part of your riding gear. You definitely don’t want a bit of dust to impair your vision and lead to an accident! It’s also a good idea to find a pair of goggles with UV protection or anti-fogging capabilities.
Boots
The next part of riding gear you need in your closet is a pair of riding boots. You can’t ride your powersports vehicle in flip-flops or tennis shoes! You need shoes that are protective, sturdy, and provide good grip. Preferably, the boots should come up to your ankles. Make sure you break them in before you start riding in them.
Jackets and Riding Suits
A padded jacket or one-piece riding suit is another essential part of your gear. Make sure your jacket fits well but is made of a breathable and flexible fabric so you have full range of motion. If you opt for a jacket instead of a riding suit, make sure to get some riding pants to protect your legs from abrasions.
Gloves
The final piece of riding gear you need is a pair of gloves. These will protect your hands and provide you with good grip as well as keep your hands warm during colder weather!
